Frequently asked questions
Is the hidden text really gone?
Yes. Each page with a redaction is rebuilt as an image with the black boxes burned in, so the text, images and data underneath no longer exist in the file. Pages without redactions are left untouched.
Why can't I select text on redacted pages anymore?
That's the trade-off that makes the redaction safe: those pages become images. Run OCR PDF afterwards if you need them searchable.
Is the document metadata cleaned?
Yes. Title, author, subject and keywords are cleared, since they can also contain private information.
