Frequently asked questions
Are these passwords really random?
Yes. They come from your browser's cryptographic random number generator (the same one used for encryption keys), not Math.random. Each chosen character set is always included.
Do you see or store my passwords?
No. Passwords are generated on your device and never sent anywhere. Close the page and they're gone.
How long should a password be?
Use at least 16 random characters, or 5–6 random words for a passphrase. Use a different password for every site and keep them in a password manager.
What does the bit number mean?
It's the entropy: how many guesses an attacker would need, as a power of two. Every extra bit doubles the work. Above 80 bits is very strong for online accounts.
